Alleppey in June
Not the best time
Monsoon transforms Alleppey into a different place entirely. The backwaters swell and many activities shut down due to weather. Only monsoon enthusiasts should visit - everyone else should wait.
Weather
Monsoon arrives with a vengeance, bringing heavy downpours and high winds. Temperatures drop to a more bearable 34°C, but humidity spikes to uncomfortable levels. Rain comes in intense bursts rather than gentle showers.

June Tips
- •Pack serious rain gear - umbrellas won't cut it
- •Many houseboat operators suspend services during heavy rain
- •Book flexible accommodations in case of weather delays
All Months
October through March is peak season for good reason — temperatures hover around 28°C and the monsoon damage is repaired. December and January see the most crowds and highest prices, but also the most reliable weather. February and March offer a sweet spot with fewer tourists but still pleasant conditions. Monsoon season (June to September) shuts down most houseboat operations, and for good reason — the backwaters turn choppy and dangerous. April and May are brutally hot, with temperatures hitting 35°C+ and humidity that makes breathing feel like work. Book houseboats at least two weeks ahead during peak season, especially around Christmas and New Year when prices double.
