Houston in April
Great time to visit
Still gorgeous weather with Houston's creative side on full display. The last month before summer heat becomes a real consideration.
Weather
April starts beautifully but humidity begins its slow creep back into the picture. Temperatures hit 29°C during the day and drop to a pleasant 18°C at night. Expect about 5 rainy days, often with dramatic afternoon storms.

- •Air conditioning bills start climbing, so budget hotels might get uncomfortable
All Months
October through April gives you Houston's sweet spot — warm days, cool evenings, and manageable humidity. December and January can surprise you with actual cold fronts, but you'll still see 70-degree days mixed in. March and April bloom with azaleas in River Oaks and perfect weather for outdoor festivals.
Summer is brutal. We're talking 95+ degrees with humidity that makes the air feel thick as soup from May through September. But hotel rates drop 40% and you'll have pools to yourself. Just plan indoor activities during peak afternoon heat.
Avoid late August through October if possible — hurricane season brings flooding risks and general weather chaos. Harvey in 2017 showed how quickly things can go sideways. Spring break (March) and rodeo season (late February/early March) jack up prices and crowds significantly.
