Houston in June
Not the best time
Brutal heat and humidity make this a locals-only season. Rock-bottom prices come with a good reason - you'll be sprinting between air-conditioned spaces.
Weather
Welcome to Houston summer. Temperatures soar to 35°C with oppressive humidity making it feel even hotter. Nights barely cool to 25°C. Rain becomes more frequent at 10 days, often as afternoon deluges that flood streets temporarily.

June Tips
- •Plan indoor activities between 11am-5pm when heat becomes dangerous
- •Carry cash for parking meters that might be broken from recent flooding
All Months
October through April gives you Houston's sweet spot — warm days, cool evenings, and manageable humidity. December and January can surprise you with actual cold fronts, but you'll still see 70-degree days mixed in. March and April bloom with azaleas in River Oaks and perfect weather for outdoor festivals.
Summer is brutal. We're talking 95+ degrees with humidity that makes the air feel thick as soup from May through September. But hotel rates drop 40% and you'll have pools to yourself. Just plan indoor activities during peak afternoon heat.
Avoid late August through October if possible — hurricane season brings flooding risks and general weather chaos. Harvey in 2017 showed how quickly things can go sideways. Spring break (March) and rodeo season (late February/early March) jack up prices and crowds significantly.
