Great time to visit
Crisp, clear weather perfect for exploring the city without melting. Holiday crowds thin out after Christmas, making late December surprisingly pleasant.
Weather
December maintains the pleasant trend with 20°C days and cool 8°C nights that might require actual jackets. Rain stays low around 4 days, often just light winter drizzles. Humidity remains blissfully absent.

All Months
October through April gives you Houston's sweet spot — warm days, cool evenings, and manageable humidity. December and January can surprise you with actual cold fronts, but you'll still see 70-degree days mixed in. March and April bloom with azaleas in River Oaks and perfect weather for outdoor festivals.
Summer is brutal. We're talking 95+ degrees with humidity that makes the air feel thick as soup from May through September. But hotel rates drop 40% and you'll have pools to yourself. Just plan indoor activities during peak afternoon heat.
Avoid late August through October if possible — hurricane season brings flooding risks and general weather chaos. Harvey in 2017 showed how quickly things can go sideways. Spring break (March) and rodeo season (late February/early March) jack up prices and crowds significantly.
