Houston in August
Not the best time
Slightly less rain than July but equally punishing heat. The month when even Houston natives start complaining about their weather choice.
Weather
August matches July's intensity with 36°C highs and stubbornly warm 26°C lows. The air feels thick enough to swim through. Rain drops slightly to 8 days but often arrives as flash-flood-inducing downpours.

All Months
October through April gives you Houston's sweet spot — warm days, cool evenings, and manageable humidity. December and January can surprise you with actual cold fronts, but you'll still see 70-degree days mixed in. March and April bloom with azaleas in River Oaks and perfect weather for outdoor festivals.
Summer is brutal. We're talking 95+ degrees with humidity that makes the air feel thick as soup from May through September. But hotel rates drop 40% and you'll have pools to yourself. Just plan indoor activities during peak afternoon heat.
Avoid late August through October if possible — hurricane season brings flooding risks and general weather chaos. Harvey in 2017 showed how quickly things can go sideways. Spring break (March) and rodeo season (late February/early March) jack up prices and crowds significantly.
