Broome in December
Not the best time
December brings back the heat and humidity that makes Broome challenging, though wet season storms haven't reached full intensity yet. Low prices reflect the uncomfortable conditions most visitors want to avoid.
Weather
December marks the start of wet season proper with sweltering 34°C days and humid 24°C nights. Humidity jumps to around 70% and afternoon storms become regular, though not yet the daily deluges of peak wet season. The heat feels oppressive even in shade.

December Tips
- •Book accommodation with excellent air conditioning and backup generators
- •Avoid outdoor activities between 11am and 4pm when heat becomes dangerous
- •Many tour operators reduce schedules or close entirely, so check availability
All Months
Broome has two seasons — the Dry and the Wet. The Dry runs April through October, and that's when you want to be here. Temperatures sit around 25-30°C, humidity stays low, and rain is basically nonexistent. Peak season is May through September when accommodation prices double and you need to book months ahead. The shoulder months of April and October offer the best balance — good weather, smaller crowds, and reasonable prices. But here's what they don't tell you about the Wet season (November to March) — yes, it's hot and humid, but the storms are spectacular and accommodation is half price. Just know that some roads become impassable and tour operators shut down. Cyclone season runs December through March, so factor that risk into your planning.
