Juneau in November
Not the best time
November tests your resolve with dark, wet, cold conditions that make you question why anyone lives here. But hey, the prices are rock bottom and you'll have genuine interactions with hardy locals.
Weather
November delivers classic Pacific Northwest gloom with frequent rain and decreasing daylight hours. Temperatures hover just above freezing most days. The combination of short days, heavy clouds, and persistent drizzle creates genuinely depressing conditions.

- •Many restaurants and attractions reduce hours significantly
- •The few clear days offer stunning snow-capped mountain views
All Months
May through September offers the warmest weather and longest daylight hours. July brings peak tourist season — expect crowds at major attractions and higher hotel prices. But you'll also get 18+ hours of daylight and the best chance of clear glacier views.
September is the sweet spot. Cruise ship crowds thin out after Labor Day, hotel rates drop, and you still get decent weather with stunning fall colors. Northern lights start appearing on clear nights.
Winter visits require serious planning. Many tour operators shut down, and daylight lasts only 6-7 hours. But if you can handle the cold and darkness, you'll have the place mostly to yourself. The aurora displays can be incredible on clear nights.
